Story telling
Stories are what makes a child, an adult, and everyone in between pay attention and be enthralled to the subjects of the story. It is one of the oldest methods of communication, through which we still have the fairy tales, the monster stories, the tales of good and bad, of joy and peace, of triumph and loss. To capture the essence of the nature around us and the relationship we have with every being and element, story writing sessions have been organised in schools.
Story writing workshop
One of the first sessions to sit and write some stories we have from our interactions with the animals, wild, and domestic, was organised in July of 2022. The session involved 10 students of varying ages, sitting down with a facilitator and learning the steps of story creation. The students from CYF: Life Vision Academy were part of this session, and their stories were followed up later on by then Roots & Shoots Coordinator Namita Kandel.

During the session, the students went through different exercises on creative thinking, story formulation and also how narratives and flows work. Their interactions with animals in their own lives, their learnings from studies and all came into play as they went meditated on what their stories are about and who are the protagonists.

Facilitator Shuvechhya Pradhan, a creative writer and and travel writer, facilitated that session in the premises of the animal rights organisation, Animal Nepal.
